Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel will miss the rest of the season due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder, according to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.

Reds president of baseball operations Dick Williams told Rosecrans that Senzel will visit noted surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday for a second opinion. The team will have more information about possible treatments and timelines after that.

Williams added Senzel should be ready for spring training even if he needs surgery, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com.

Senzel, 24, last appeared in a game on Sept. 7 when he entered as a pinch-runner. He hasn't played the field in over a week due to what the Reds were calling a right shoulder impingement.

One of the top prospects in baseball heading into this season, Senzel joined the Reds in early May following an impressive showing in spring training.

Senzel finishes his rookie season having slashed .256/.315/.427 with 12 homers, 20 doubles, 42 RBIs, 14 steals, 30 walks, and 101 strikeouts over 104 games.
