Yankees, Twins tied in race for single-season HR record
The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins are engaged in a slugfest to see which team finishes the campaign with the most home runs ever in a single season.
New York broke Minnesota's single-season MLB record for homers after shortstop Didi Gregorius launched the club's 276 round-tripper of 2019 on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers. The blast was the Yankees' sixth homer of the night.

Minnesota came right back and tied New York thanks to catcher Mitch Garver going deep against the Washington Nationals.

The Twins surpassed the Bronx Bombers' mark of 267 - the previous major-league record set in 2018 - at the end of August.
New York has 16 games left on its schedule while Minnesota has 18.
