CC Sabathia will get to one last All-Star Game after all.

Major League Baseball announced Friday that it'll honor the New York Yankees left-hander - who's retiring at season's end - as part of Tuesday's All-Star festivities at Cleveland's Progressive Field, according to MLB.com's Mark Feisand.

The league will recognize Sabathia "for his contributions to the game and his longtime service to the community," according to the league statement.

"We are delighted that CC and his family will join us in Cleveland, where his major-league career began," commissioner Rob Manfred said. "We look forward to celebrating his many accomplishments during our All-Star Game festivities."

"It's amazing, to be the guy that they're honoring," Sabathia told Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com. "It feels good."

Sabathia pitched for the Indians from 2001-08, helping the team reach the playoffs twice while also winning the 2007 AL Cy Young.

Some of Sabathia's Yankees teammates had publicly stumped for the 38-year-old to be awarded a ceremonial spot on the American League's All-Star roster earlier this season. However, he wasn't named to the Junior Circuit squad and won't pitch in Tuesday's contest.

Sabathia, a six-time All-Star, is 5-4 with a 4.04 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts for the Yankees this year. He netted his 250th career win earlier this season and also became just the 17th pitcher - and third left-hander - in baseball history to record 3,000 strikeouts.
