Machado appeals suspension for 'aggressively arguing' with umpire
Major League Baseball announced San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado has received a one-game suspension for "aggressively arguing and making contact" with umpire Bill Welke during Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies.
In addition to the suspension, Machado was fined an undisclosed amount.
Machado filed an appeal and is in Monday's lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers.
"I didn't think I touched him," Machado said, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. "The video says it all. We're going to appeal it, and we think we've got a good case."

Machado took issue with Welke's strike zone on a called third strike in the fifth inning and was subsequently ejected.
"He pointed, but I was way too into the zone of letting him hear what I had to say on what I thought about the call," Machado said. "I didn't think I touched him."
An inning later, manager Andy Green was also ejected after a separate confrontation with Welke.
In his first season since signing a 10-year, $300-million contract, Machado is batting .261/.343/.448 with 13 home runs and 10 doubles in 70 games.
