Indians' Bauers caps off MLB's 3rd cycle of season with 2-run HR

Cleveland Indians designated hitter Jake Bauers completed the third cycle of the MLB season in style when he cranked a two-run home run in the eighth inning against the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

In an eight-run fourth inning, Bauers followed up a single with an RBI triple.

He's the first Indians batter to hit for the cycle since Rajai Davis did it in 2016, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com.

Bauers was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in a trade that sent infielder Yandy Diaz the other way last offseason. In his first campaign with Cleveland, Bauers is batting .222/.305/.384 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs in 64 games.

Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani hit for the cycle on Thursday, becoming the first Japanese-born player to do so in MLB history. With Bauers following him on Friday, it's the first time consecutive cycles have been hit since Tris Speaker and Chief Meyers did so on back-to-back days in 1912, according to MLB Stats.

The first cycle of the season came when Minnesota Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco completed the feat against the Philadelphia Phillies in April.
