Dietrich doesn't expect retribution despite pimping another HR vs. Pirates

Derek Dietrich is not endearing himself to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Cincinnati Reds first baseman got all of an offering from Pirates reliever Alex McRae during Monday's game and made sure to admire it.

The ball was scorched off the bat - Statcast was down so there was no official reading aside from the eye test - but Dietrich's trot around the bases in the seventh inning was anything but quick.

It's not the first time Dietrich admired a home run against the Pirates this season. Benches emptied in April after Pirates starter Chris Archer threw behind Dietrich in retaliation for watching a previous homer.

Dietrich didn't receive another at-bat during Monday's 8-1 win but doesn't expect any retaliation moving forward.

"This is baseball. This is how it’s played," Dietrich said, according to Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'm going to keep playing the way I play and I think everyone should play the way they play and I've got no problems with it. Who knows, but I'm just coming to play ball, man, hit the ball hard. We're having fun, trying to win. It’s baseball now."

The teams have split the first two games of the four-game set and play again Tuesday.
