Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano will be limited to upper-body workouts to kick off spring training. Sano's right foot will be in a walking boot for the next seven-to-10 days due to a lacerated heel, according to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com.

Sano sustained the injury celebrating his Dominican Winter League title with the Estrellas Orientales last month. The cut is not considered serious by Twins manager Rocco Baldelli, and the boot is serving as a precaution so it can heal properly.

"It's just something we'll roll with and deal with," Baldelli said. "There's a lot more to be excited and happy about as far as Miguel's offseason and everything that went into it. I consider this a minor issue we have to get past before he gets going."

Sano, 25, is coming off a trying 2018. He slashed .199/.281/.398 with 13 home runs in 71 games and was demoted to Single-A for a chunk of the campaign. His season was further limited when he suffered a knee injury in early September, which kept him out of all but one more game down the stretch.
