A 2019 summer showcase in London might not be a one-off event for Major League Baseball.

In 2020, the league is considering a matchup between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals or the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals across the pond, sources tell Ronald Blum of the Associated Press.

The league is expected to make an official announcement after Opening Day.

A potential 2020 game will follow this summer's contests between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees at London Stadium on June 29-30. The venue typically houses the Premier League's West Ham United and was constructed ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Those games will mark the first time MLB has traveled to Europe. The league has previously held regular-season games in Mexico, Japan, and Australia, and will open the season with a two-game set between the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics at the Tokyo Dome.
