Tulowitzki narrowing choices from 6 interested teams
It didn't take long for Troy Tulowitzki's market to heat up.
Three days after the Toronto Blue Jays released the five-time All-Star, Tulowitzki's agent Paul Cohen told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that he and his client will narrow the field of interested suitors Friday.
Six teams are in the running for the 34-year-old, though Tulowitzki hasn't heard from the Oakland Athletics, Slusser adds.
Tulowitzki, a Bay Area native, has expressed a willingness to play for one of his two local teams in Oakland or San Francisco, with a contender being another preference. He's also warmed up to the idea of playing a position other than shortstop.
After missing the entire 2018 campaign following surgery on both of his heels, Tulowitzki has been working out at Long Beach State University, and Cohen claims his client is healthy, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports noted on Tuesday.
The former MVP candidate only managed to hit .250/.313/.414 with 36 home runs and 122 RBIs in 238 games for the Blue Jays after they acquired him in a 2015 trade with the Colorado Rockies.
His defense has always been a strong suit, with Tulowitzki recording a combined plus-93 in defensive runs saved at shortstop throughout his career.
Tulowitzki was let go by Toronto on Tuesday with $38 million left on his contract. Any team who chooses to sign the two-time Gold Glover would only have to pay him the major-league minimum.
