Report: A's have checked in on Gonzalez, Harvey
The Oakland Athletics are fresh off a surprising run to the postseason with a patchwork rotation consisting of veterans on short-term deals.
With Oakland in need of starters heading into next year, the team has checked in on Gio Gonzalez and Matt Harvey, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Athletics officials have already shown interest in bringing back Edwin Jackson and Trevor Cahill, and could potentially be on the hunt for a minimum of three-to-four starters, Slusser adds.
Gonzalez has twice finished among the top six in Cy Young voting, while Harvey placed fourth in 2013.

Harvey, 29, struggled with the New York Mets before he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds last season. His performance improved following the deal, however, posting a 7-7 record and a 4.50 ERA across 128 innings.
