The Philadelphia Phillies have spoken to the San Francisco Giants about a potential trade for left-handed starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Philadelphia was seen as a serious candidate to land fellow southpaw Patrick Corbin before he reportedly signed a six-year contract with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

Bumgarner has one season and $12 million left on his current contract. He has popped up in trade rumors over the last few weeks as the Giants have apparently become more willing to listen to offers.

While San Francisco seems open to possibly moving the four-time All-Star, there was no momentum toward a deal leading up to the Corbin signing, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The last two seasons haven't gone in Bumgarner's favor. After developing a reputation as an innings-eater by topping 200 in six consecutive years, he missed time due to injuries in back-to-back campaigns. Since the start of 2017, he's gone 10-16 with a 3.29 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 7.9 K/9 over 240 2/3 innings.
