Phillies' Kapler lost his home in California wildfire
Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler lost his Malibu, Calif., home to the deadly wildfires spreading throughout the state.
A Phillies spokesperson told NBC Sports Philadelphia that the 43-year-old and his family are safe, and the manager's thoughts are with the community affected by the tragedy.
"Our family is good," Kapler, who is currently in Philadelphia, told Matt Gelb of The Athletic on Monday. "There are a lot of other families who are not."
Kapler, a native of Hollywood, has been active on social media as the fires spread around his home city and state. Over the weekend, he helped pass along a list of supplies needed to help those affected by the disaster.

"When you're out in your community, talk about it with other people," Kapler said. "Use it as a way to come together. I sent this text message back to people: Talk about it. Shine light on it. Raise awareness. Feel it."
Three separate wildfires are causing damage in northern and southern California, with 300,000-plus people across the state displaced from their homes. Of those impacted, 170,000 live in the Los Angeles area, where the Woolsey and Hill Fires have combined to burn 95,000-plus acres of land, according to CNN.
The fires have killed 31 people.
