Adrian Beltre hasn't yet decided whether he will play next season and the answer won't come anytime soon.

The Texas Rangers third baseman said he will wait until after this season to make a decision about next year, according to MLB.com's TR Sullivan.

"If I feel like I can't hit anymore which sometimes this year I've felt that I can't hit anymore, if I can't compete with the young guys, yes, I'll pack my bags and go home," Beltre said. "Right now, I'm not at that stage yet. I might be there at the end of the year."

Beltre's potential retirement has been a topic of conversation this season as the 39-year-old is in the last year of his contract and has been plagued by injuries, hitting the disabled list twice with hamstring issues.

He's been dealing with more hamstring troubles lately. His start Saturday was his first in five days.

Beltre said in July that if he does play next year, he wants it to be with his current club.

"If I'm going to play next year, I want it to be here," Beltre said. "Right now, that's a big if. But, if I play, I think I owe it to these fans. And I want to retire as a Ranger."

Entering Monday, the 21-year veteran is the owner of 469 home runs, 1,685 RBIs, and a career OPS of .818.

The four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner also became the all-time hits leader among foreign-born players in June and has 3,138 hits to his credit during his career.
