Major League Baseball announced that the third annual Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pa. will take place on Aug. 18 between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs.

The announcement came during the second annual Little League Classic, played between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

The 2019 edition of the Little League Classic will be the second appearance made by the Pirates, as they played the inaugural game against the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017.

Pittsburgh won the 2017 Little League Classic against the division rival by a score of 6-3. Two of the three games have featured an NL Central matchup, while the Mets-Phillies was an NL East rivalry. No team from the American League has played in the game.

Scheduled to coincide with the Little League World Series, the game is played at Historic Bowman Field, an intimate venue with a capacity of 2,366. Major League Baseball and the State of Pennsylvania invested in a multi-million dollar renovation to the complex prior to finalizing the 2017 event.
