New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius suffered a bruised heel during Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays and will be taken to hospital for further testing, according to the Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News.

Gregorius collided with Blue Jays first baseman Kendrys Morales while beating out an infield single in the first inning. He was slow getting up and was examined by the trainer. He stayed in the game but was removed in the third inning.

The Yankees are already without sluggers Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, so it would be a massive blow if Gregorius were to miss significant time. The 28-year-old entered Sunday slashing .268/.332/.481 with 22 homers and 73 RBIs.

Gleyber Torres shifted from second to short once Gregorius exited the game, while Ronald Torreyes entered the contest to man the keystone.
