Former MLB All-Star Milton Bradley has been charged with battery for allegedly assaulting his wife, reports TMZ Sports.

The charge stems from an incident in January which saw police called to Bradley's home in Los Angeles.

Bradley's wife told police she was "roughed up" during an argument. Bradley apparently subsequently fled the scene, TMZ adds.

An investigation into the matter took place and the L.A. city attorney has charged Bradley with battery on a spouse, which is a misdemeanor. He could face up to a year in jail, along with a fine, if convicted.

The 39-year-old, who spent 12 years in the big leagues with eight different teams, previously spent 15 months in prison after he was convicted of assaulting his previous wife in 2013.

He's also infamous for his hot-headed temperament on the baseball field, which included numerous ejections. In 2007, Bradley famously suffered a season-ending ACL tear after his then-manager Bud Black spun him to the ground to keep him from an altercation with an umpire.
