The Miami Marlins are planning to pay tribute to the victims of last week's mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School prior to their first spring training game.

The team has ordered dozens of the school's baseball caps, which players and field staff will wear before the first pitch of Friday's spring opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Tim Healy of the Sun Sentinel.

Due to MLB uniform rules, the team isn't expected to wear the caps during the game itself. Instead, they plan on donning the Stoneman Douglas Eagles' gear during their morning workouts and pregame warmups.

Seventeen people were killed at the Parkland, Fla. school last Wednesday. Outfielder Lewis Brinson, a native of nearby Coral Springs who played against Stoneman Douglas when he was in school, visited victims in the hospital.

"Just to put a smile on their faces,” said Brinson. “With all the heartache and pain they’re going through, I was glad to put a smile on those kids’ faces and just go say hi to them."
