It looks likelier by the day that Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado will spend 2018 in a different uniform.

As the annual winter meetings inch toward their conclusion, the Orioles are progressing on a Machado trade, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko.

"We’re making good progress on that," president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said. "We met with a couple of teams today, so we’ve got an idea of what their interest is and see if we match up. So we’re making good progress on that. We did some of that last night, also, so that’s moving along."

Several teams have even made trade offers for Machado, sources tell FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.

Duquette maintains there's no rush to make a deal happen, however, and is instead waiting for the market to clarify itself, according to MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli.

"That window, when clubs are adding key pieces to their ball club that usually goes on now ’til the first of the year," he said. "At some point you have to decide are you going to fish or cut bait, right? That’s a little ways down the track."

While Duquette and Co. have warmed up to the idea of trading within the division, he acknowledged it's difficult to imagine Machado on the opposite side of the diamond 19 times in 2018.

"We have control over that now," Duquette told Ghiroli. "We won't a year from now."

Despite the uphill battle, both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees have reportedly expressed a desire to land Machado over the last couple days.
