The Atlanta Braves issued a press release Friday stating that senior advisor John Hart has stepped down from his position, effective immediately. The news comes after a report that the probe into the team's international signing violations is set to be resolved shortly.

Hart recently pivoted to a senior advisor role with the concurrent announcement that Alex Anthopoulos would take over as the Braves' general manager. Up until then, he had served as the team's president of baseball operations and was also serving as interim GM while the team looked to fill the vacancy left by John Coppolella.

Hart's tenure as the Braves' president of baseball operations began following the 2014 season.

Coppolella stepped down at the beginning of an MLB investigation into the team's alleged violation of the league's international signing rules. The Braves are expected to lose one or more prospects that they've signed out of Latin America as part of the resolution.
