Giancarlo Stanton wasn't everyone's choice for the National League MVP, in fact, he wasn't even a top-five player for one voter.

The Miami Marlins slugger won one of the closest races in the award's history, edging Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds by just two points, despite landing sixth on one ballot.

Tracy Ringolsby of MLB.com had Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon as the NL MVP winner, with Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Joey Votto, and Kris Bryant all finishing ahead of Stanton.

Stanton did, however, land 10 first-place votes and 10 second-place votes to help give him the edge over Votto en route to the first MVP award for a Marlins player in franchise history. Votto finished in the top five on all 30 ballots.
