The New York Mets have completed a good portion of their managerial interviews, and Seattle Mariners bench coach Manny Acta appears to be leading the pack.

The Mets sat down with Acta on Tuesday, among others, but the former manager is considered a serious candidate because of his knowledge of the organization's dynamics, according to a source, per Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Houston Astros bench coach Alex Cora, Indians pitching coach Mickey Callaway, Mets hitting coach Kevin Long, and Chicago White Sox bench coach Joe McEwing are among the candidates to interview for the position.

Former Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus removed himself from the mix earlier this week.

Acta began his managerial career with the Washington Nationals in 2007, lasting three seasons with the organization. After his dismissal, he was hired by the Cleveland Indians in 2009, and brought the team from 69 wins in 2010 to 80 wins the year after.

In his six seasons as manager, Acta has never had a team finish with a winning record.
