Watch: Judge inches toward rookie HR record with 469-foot blast

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Judge sentenced yet another baseball to life in the cheap seats Friday with his 46th home run of 2017.

He ripped the fourth pitch he saw from Toronto Blue Jays starter Marco Estrada deep to left field to give the New York Yankees an early 1-0 lead.

With the homer, Judge inched within striking distance of Mark McGwire's MLB rookie record of 49, set in 1987. Judge has eight more games after Thursday's contest in which to either tie or pass McGwire.

At 469 feet, the ball Judge belted Friday is the second-longest deep fly of his young career. Plenty more seem bound to follow.
