North Carolina becomes 1st team in LLWS history to throw consecutive no hitters

North Carolina made history at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, becoming the first team in the history of the tournament to throw back-to-back no-hitters, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The youngsters from the Southeast region beat California 16-0 in their double elimination game on Sunday. Chase Anderson pitched three shutout innings with four strikeouts, followed by Matthew Matthijs who pitched the final two, finishing with three strikeouts.

Both Anderson and Matthijs were also the catalysts in the previous game against the Midwest region. Anderson went three innings of hitless ball followed again by Matthijs, who racked up five strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

Their next game will be played Wednesday against the Southwest region.
