The Toronto Blue Jays may have won the Josh Donaldson trade, but one of the young players the club gave up to get him is making an impression in his major-league debut.
Oakland Athletics top prospect Franklin Barreto homered in his second at-bat Saturday, good for his first major-league hit. Incredibly, Barreto joined rookie teammates Jaycob Brugman and Matt Olson who also hit their first big-league home runs on the day.
Barreto, ranked as the Athletics' best prospect and 44th out of the top 100 on MLB.com ahead of the season, was hitting .281/.326/.428 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs this year in Triple-A prior to his promotion.
