Frank Thomas, Buehrle's longtime teammate and one of the 12 players to have their jersey retired in Chicago, was in attendance, offering the left-hander a bear hug in the process.

Last but certainly not least, Buehrle was given a personalized truck with "27 up and 27 down" written on the back in reference to his 2009 perfect game.

The 38-year-old spent 12 of his 16 career seasons in the South Side, helping the club win a World Series in 2005, a year in which he performed to a 16-8 record and a 1.18 WHIP in 33 starts.

In White Sox history, Buehrle ranks fifth in strikeouts, sixth in games started, and eighth in wins and innings pitched.
