The bad news keeps coming for the New York Mets.

Starter Matt Harvey, who was scheduled to visit a doctor after seeing a drastic dip in his velocity, was diagnosed with a stress injury to the scapula bone in his right shoulder Thursday and is expected to miss several weeks, the Mets announced.

Harvey has already received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will begin a rehab program until he is "pain free," according to the Mets.

Harvey's fastball reached as low as 87 mph in his start Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs, a velocity the right-hander said he hadn't thrown since his freshman year in high school.

It's the second time in four years years the 28-year-old's season has been derailed by injury. Harvey's 2016 campaign was cut short in July when the pitcher underwent surgery to address his thoracic outlet syndrome. He also missed the entire 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2013.

Along with Harvey, second baseman Neil Walker is also expected to miss time after being diagnosed with a partially torn hamstring. He has already been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
