One of the most popular events on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule returns to Orlando this year, as a star-studded group of current and retired professional golfers play with their relatives in a two-day scramble known as the PNC Championship.

The field is filled with multiple major winners, past and present LPGA stars, and some of the biggest current TOUR contenders. Defending champions John Daly and his son, John Daly II, are in the field again, as is the incredibly popular duo of Tiger and Charlie Woods.

Here are six of the most notable teams that'll tee off Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

One of the biggest golfers in history and his son, who's becoming a star of the tournament himself, are back.

Tiger and his 13-year-old son, Charlie, will be making their third appearance at the PNC Championship after finishing as runner-up last year and seventh two years ago.

All eyes will be on the pair - both to see Charlie's young talent and Woods' current capabilities, given his limited ability to play as of late. Already a talented golfer, Charlie has, by Tiger's own admission, outdriven him before.

On Tiger's end, the 46-year-old has only played in three official TOUR events since last year's PNC, but he did play in The Match last weekend. He was originally committed to playing in his Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas the week prior, but withdrew due to plantar fasciitis in his foot.

Team Thomas

Always one of the best duos in the field, Justin Thomas and his father, Mike, are also returning to Orlando. Team Thomas won the PNC Championship two years ago and features the reigning PGA champion playing alongside his coach.

Justin, 29, is coming off of a strong 2022, highlighted by his second major title and 15th TOUR win with the PGA at Southern Hills. He was a member of the winning U.S. Presidents Cup team in September, finished fifth at the Hero World Challenge two weeks ago, and, with Jordan Spieth, defeated Woods and Rory McIlroy last week at The Match. Team Thomas will once again be paired with Team Woods for Saturday's first round and will look to improve on a third-place finish last year.

Team Spieth

A new face at the tournament, Jordan Spieth is finally making his PNC debut with his father, Shawn. A three-time major winner and former World No. 1, the 29-year-old is right up there with the best of them in the PNC field.

Having played in four Ryder Cups and four Presidents Cups, we know the younger Spieth works well in a team setting. He went undefeated at the latter event in September, carding a perfect 5-0-0 record. As previously mentioned, he also won The Match with Thomas.

While we've never seen the elder Spieth in a setting like the PNC, he has subbed in as Spieth's caddy in the past.

Team Korda

Nelly Korda is another returnee to the PNC Championship field after making her debut last season alongside her father, Petr, a former professional tennis player with a career-high ranking of No. 2 on the ATP. The father-daughter duo finished 12th in its inaugural showing at the tournament.

Despite missing a large chunk of the spring season this year due to a blood clot in her arm, Nelly proved once again that she's one of the LPGA's brightest stars. She won the Pelican Women's Championship in November for her eighth LPGA title at only 24, and supported it with two more runner-up finishes.

Most recently, she played in last week's QBE Shootout, where she and partner Denny McCarthy finished tied for fifth. With a bit of experience under its belt this time around, Team Korda could be a serious contender.

Team Sorenstam

The first female professional to play in the PNC Championship is returning with a new partner.

Annika Sorenstam will be appearing in her third PNC after playing in 2019 (tied for 19th) and 2020 (17th) alongside her father. The 52-year-old is no stranger to success, as she won an incredible 72 tournaments on the LPGA Tour during her career, including 10 major titles.

Instead of playing with her father, Sorenstam will this time be joined by her son. Will McGee, 11, will make his debut at the PNC when the pair tees off Saturday.

Team Daly

The defending champions are back. Two-time major winner John Daly and his son, John Daly II, return to Florida after a historic win in 2021.

Last year, Team Daly defeated a strong field with a record-breaking tournament score of 27-under 117, edging Team Woods by two strokes. John Daly II has been playing in the PNC with his father since 2016 and is now a sophomore at the University of Arkansas, where he plays on the men's golf team.

In addition to finishing first last year, the father-son pair finished eighth in 2020, fifth in 2019, and tied for second in 2018. The Daly duo is definitely set to be a serious contender again in Orlando.
