Real Madrid's Militao suffers another serious knee injury
Real Madrid defender Eder Militao was ruled out for several months with a serious knee injury after his team's 4-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday.
"Following tests carried out today on our player Eder Militao by Real Madrid's medical services, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament," said Madrid in a statement.
The Spanish champions said Militao will undergo surgery on the injured right knee in the near future.
The defender is likely to miss the rest of the season with Spanish media estimating he will miss nine months.
The Brazilian centre-back, 26, was sidelined for most of last season with a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
Madrid also lost Rodrygo Goes and Lucas Vazquez to less severe injuries in the win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday and are without several players out hurt already, including Aurelien Tchouameni and long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and David Alaba.
