Yaya Toure has refuted his agent's claim that the former Manchester City and Barcelona star has retired from football in order to pursue a coaching career.
Agent Dimitri Seluk took to Twitter on Thursday to announce Toure had opted to hang up his boots and begin the process of earning his coaching badges.
News of Toure's apparent retirement sparked tributes from former teams, teammates, and others from around the football world.
The 35-year-old, who left Manchester City last summer, has been without a club since December when Greek side Olympiacos terminated his contract.
