Roberto Mancini offered some surprises when he confirmed Italy's 26-man squad for this summer's European Championship on Tuesday.

The national team boss was expected to cut just two from his roster after he whittled it down to 28 players over the weekend. However, Roma's Gianluca Mancini, Atalanta's Matteo Pessina, and Napoli's Matteo Politano were all left out of the Azzurri's final Euro squad.

Uncapped Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori, who was part of the first wave of cuts, was called back for the campaign. He was available after he played the full 120 minutes of Italy's elimination from the Under-21 Euros at the hands of Portugal on Monday.

Raspadori scored six goals over 27 Serie A appearances in the 2020-21 season.
