Six-time Serie A winner Massimiliano Allegri could have his sights set on a move to Old Trafford.

The former Juventus manager is eager to return to the touchline and hopes to do so at Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano and Ed Aarons of the Guardian.

Allegri has reportedly been learning English in the event that he's brought in for an interview at Old Trafford. He would be on a two- or three-man shortlist should Manchester United move on from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Romano and Aarons report.

However, United officials reportedly aren't planning to sack Solskjaer, who signed a three-year contract in March.

The 52-year-old Allegri is apparently willing to take the job later in the campaign even if the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League next year.

Allegri is still contractually tied to Juventus until 2020 but that reportedly would not impact a potential move to United.

After leading AC Milan to their last league title in 2011, Allegri went on to win the Scudetto five more times during an immensely successful spell at Juventus, during which the Italian side made it to two Champions League finals.

Meanwhile, United are off to their worst start to a top-flight campaign in 30 years, causing plenty of speculation over Solskjaer's future.
