Inter's unwillingness to cover most of Alexis Sanchez's £390,000-a-week wages has reportedly hindered negotiations with Manchester United.

The Nerazzurri offered to pay less than half of Sanchez's yearly salary, which United considered unacceptable, according to the BBC's Simon Stone.

Sanchez appears to have no intention of taking a pay cut - even if it would facilitate a move to Serie A.

Although Antonio Conte's side remains interested in signing the 30-year-old, it will reportedly take a greater financial commitment to get the deal done. Inter have until Sept. 2 - the end of the European transfer window - to add the Chilean to their ranks.

Former teammate Romelu Lukaku - who said he shared most of the blame at United with Paul Pogba and Sanchez - joined the San Siro outfit earlier in August for a reported £70 million.
