Edin Dzeko, who was reportedly pursued by Inter as a potential replacement for Mauro Icardi, committed his future to Roma on Friday.

The 33-year-old agreed to a new three-year contract with Giallorossi, tying him to the club until June 2022.

Even before Inter completed the signing of Romelu Lukaku, the club had long-standing interest in Dzeko. Earlier this week, the Nerazzurri made another attempt to recruit the Bosnian striker, according to Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio.

Inter reportedly discussed a swap deal with Roma that would send Icardi to the capital club. Friday's announcement, however, is expected to put those rumors to bed.

"Over the last few weeks, I have realized just how much the club wanted me to stay," Dzeko said in a statement. "My conversations with the board, the work we've been doing with the coach, the relationship with my teammates, and the love the fans (have) all made me realize once again what I had already learned during these four years: That Rome is my home."

Dzeko is the third player in quick succession to renew terms with Roma. Nicolo Zaniolo, who reportedly drew interest from Tottenham this summer, and Cengiz Under each signed long-term contracts earlier in the week.
