Internazionale announced Antonio Conte's return to Italy on Friday, with the former Azzurri boss penning a three-year deal with the Serie A giants.

"A new chapter in my life is beginning, I'm really excited," Conte told Inter's official website. "Through my work, I'll try to repay all of the trust that the president and directors have placed in me. I have chosen Inter because of the club it is, because of the project's sound basis and how ambitious it is."

Conte, 49, was dismissed as Chelsea boss at the end of the 2017-18 campaign despite leading the recently crowned Europa League champs to a Premier League title and FA Cup victory.

Inter is Conte's sixth club appointment in Italy, and a three-season spell at Juventus was his most successful previous tenure. Conte guided the current Scudetto holders to three league titles and a pair of Supercoppa Italiana crowns.

"I'm certain that he'll help us achieve our objective and fulfill our mission, one which has always remained the same: to make this club one of the best in the world again," Inter president Steven Zhang said.

Inter just placed fourth in Serie A, and Conte's appointment comes a day after the club confirmed Luciano Spalletti's departure.
