Tielemans joins Leicester City from Monaco in swap for Adrien Silva
Leicester City have acquired highly rated Belgian Youri Tielemans on loan from Monaco until the end of the season.
In exchange, the Premier League club is sending Adrien Silva to the principality, reuniting the former Sporting Clube de Portugal midfielder with manager Leonardo Jardim.
Tielemans, 21, signed with Monaco from Anderlecht in a move worth a reported €25 million in the summer of 2017. He's played in 20 Ligue 1 matches for the struggling side this term, netting five goals.
A full international with Belgium, Tielemans already has 19 senior caps to his name. He also represented his country at the World Cup in Russia, starting in the nation's two matches against England and making two substitute appearances against Tunisia and Brazil.
Silva's time with Leicester seemed cursed from the start. The Portuguese midfielder was kept out of action for the second half of 2017 after the paperwork for his transfer from Sporting was filed seconds past FIFA's deadline. He finally became eligible for registration in January 2018 but has since been limited to 21 appearances across all competitions with the Foxes.
