Neymar will spend 10 days in his native Brazil to receive further treatment on his injured foot, Paris Saint-Germain announced Wednesday.

Accompanied by members of PSG's medical staff, the 27-year-old will arrive in Brazil on Thursday to continue specific treatment required to repair his damaged fifth right metatarsal.

The injury, which has kept Neymar out of action for several weeks, has also been examined by specialists in Paris and Barcelona.

PSG did not provide an updated timetable for his return.

Neymar suffered the same injury before last year's World Cup and recently admitted he's struggled this time with the emotional aspect of being away from the sport.

"This time I had a tough time getting over it," Neymar said, as translated by Squawka's Chris Smith.

"I spent two days at home crying. The first time I hurt myself I said, 'I'll have an operation, it has to be fixed as quickly as possible.' I wasn't sad."

The forward missed PSG's first-leg victory over Manchester United in the Champions League round of 16 last week. He scored 20 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions before suffering the injury in January.
