Leicester City apparently aren't the only Premier League club pondering a move to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tottenham Hotspur are now showing interest in the Belgian international, who's been linked with a likely loan switch to Leicester in recent days, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.

Sources at Monaco say Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has approved signing the 21-year-old Tielemans, but is waiting for the go-ahead from manager Mauricio Pochettino, Law added.

However, the report stands in contrast to Pochettino's comments on Tuesday, when the manager expressed pessimism over Tottenham's chances of adding players before the winter transfer window closes Thursday.

"For different circumstance, the club has decided not to sign anyone," Pochettino said, according to BBC Sport.

"I don’t know if we have the money," he added. "Maybe it is not the financial side. If we don’t sign it is because we can’t, not because we don’t want to."

Monaco are reportedly open to loaning Tielemans - who joined the Ligue 1 side in 2017 - or selling him for around £20 million.
