Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the arrival of Leandro Paredes on Tuesday after finalizing a reported €40-million deal to sign the midfielder from Zenit St. Petersburg.

Paredes also put pen to paper on a long-term deal with PSG until June 30, 2023.

The 25-year-old Argentine was initially reported to be joining Premier League side Chelsea earlier this month, but PSG later emerged as the favorites after missing out on fellow midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who joined Barcelona from Ajax in a deal worth €75 million.

Paredes, who's been capped by Argentina nine times, scored three goals in 15 matches this term for a Zenit side that sits atop the Russian Premier League.

He now makes the jump to Ligue 1, where PSG sits first in the table with 56 points from 20 matches.
