Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was victorious at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday after a late overtake of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Hamilton used a strategic pit stop to gain ground on his adversary, passing him on Lap 60 of the 66-lap course.

"There was not much we could do ... I was a bit of a sitting duck," Verstappen said following the race. "I tried everything I could. We are not where we want to be ... but compared to last year it's a big jump for us."

Hamilton started in pole position for the 100th time of his career but was forced to chase down Verstappen after the Red Bull driver got off to a better start.

The British driver has won three of the four races this season, with Verstappen taking the other.

The top five was rounded out by Mercedes' Valterri Bottas, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, and Red Bull's Sergio Perez, respectively.
