Lewis Hamilton earned his 91st win Sunday, claiming the Eifel Grand Prix at the legendary Nurburgring, and officially moved into a tie with Michael Schumacher for the most race wins in Formula 1 history.

Mick Schumacher, Michael's son, presented Hamilton with one of his father's helmets as a gift following the record-tying result. Schumacher was slated to participate in a practice with Alfa Romeo this weekend, but inclement weather caused the FIA to cancel.

Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who had pole position after posting the fastest time in Saturday's qualifying, ran into engine problems and retired from the race on lap 19.

Hamilton's first victory came during the 2007 Canadian GP in his debut season, racing with McLaren-Mercedes.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen gave Hamilton the biggest challenge after Bottas' retirement and finished second.

Daniel Ricciardo, Verstappen's former Red Bull teammate, finished third to earn his first podium since joining Renault at the beginning of 2019. It's the first time Ricciardo is on a podium since winning Monaco in 2018.

Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul now has to get a tattoo designed by Ricciardo as part of a bet made by the two prior to the 2020 season.

"It's real, it's going to happen," Ricciardo said following the race, adding the tattoo design will have "something to do with me, but with a German flavor."

With Lance Stroll feeling unwell, Nico Hulkenberg had to fill in again for Racing Point and finished eighth.

Kimi Raikkonen also broke the record for most races started. The Alfa Romeo driver appeared in his 323rd race on Sunday, surpassing Rubens Barrichello.
