Lionel Messi continues to enter the record books with every goal he scores - that's what it feels like, at least.

The Barcelona superstar added another notch to his belt on Tuesday when he smashed home a penalty in the Blaugrana's last-16 encounter with Paris Saint-Germain.

By converting a spot-kick in the 27th minute of the first-leg tussle at the Camp Nou, the diminutive Argentine has now scored at least one Champions League goal in 17 consecutive calendar years, dating back to 2005.

That equals the record held by former Real Madrid icon Raul, who accomplished the feat from 1995-2011.

Barring injury or some other unforeseen circumstance, Messi will surely establish a new benchmark in the competition by scoring in 2022.
