Arsenal's English international Jack Wilshere is set to return from an ankle injury in two weeks, despite an initial assessment that had the midfielder slated to spend two months on the sidelines.

The ankle injury Wilshere suffered in training on a tackle from fellow Gunner Gabriel was not as dire as first thought and doesn't require surgery.

"We said Jack would be out for four weeks, and he's in the second week now so he's on schedule," manager Arsene Wenger told reporters Thursday, ahead of the Gunners' visit to Crystal Palace for a critical Premier League match Sunday.

Prior to scans on his left fibula, it was feared that Wilshere would be out for two months. The 23-year-old Arsenal youth product has suffered a long list of injuries.

Wilshere's impending return should help Arsenal, especially on the back of a lengthy injury layoff for fellow central midfielder Tomas Rosicky, who's set to miss two months following knee surgery.
