Aston Villa steamrolled defending champions Liverpool 7-2 on Sunday at Villa Park, and the scoreline would have been even more lopsided had newcomer Ross Barkley finished his chances.

Here's a look at some stunning numbers behind one of the biggest upsets in Premier League history:

2: Ollie Watkins became the second player to bag a hat-trick against Liverpool in the first half of a Premier League match after Andy Cole did so for Newcastle in November 1993.

4: The Reds conceded four goals in the opening half of a Premier League outing for just the second time. They trailed 5-0 at the break in a 6-1 defeat at Stoke City in May 2015.

6: Dean Smith's Aston Villa became the first side to score at least six goals against Liverpool in a Premier League match since Jurgen Klopp took over in October 2015.

7: Liverpool are the first English top-flight titleholders to surrender seven goals in a league tie since Arsenal did so versus Sunderland in September 1953. It's also the first time the Reds have conceded that many since April 1963 against Spurs.

10: Watkins becomes the 10th player to record a Premier League hat-trick against Liverpool and the first since Dimitar Berbatov performed the feat for Manchester United in September 2010.

11: Liverpool have now conceded 11 goals in the league, joint-second worst with Manchester United and Fulham. Only West Bromwich Albion (13) have shipped more.

11: Liverpool also faced 11 shots on target against Villa, more than twice what they had allowed in their first three league matches of the season against Leeds (3), Chelsea (3), and Arsenal (3).
