De Bruyne in no hurry to sign new City deal: 'Talks are coming'

Kevin De Bruyne is in no rush to sign a new contract even though his stock is soaring after an impressive start to the season with Manchester City.

The length of his current deal doesn't present a need for either side to expedite a new contract, but his £115,000 in weekly wages is arguably the biggest bargain in football considering the skyrocketing weekly earnings for players who have a comparable impact on their respective teams.

Instead of concerning himself with the complexity of contract negotiations, however, De Bruyne trusts his agent will find a resolution, but insisted that there's no hurry.

"My agent went already one time to Txiki (Begiristain, City's director of football)," he said, according to the Press Association. "Talks are coming. I'm patient anyway, I don't stress. I think I read something in the press but I have time."

His agent, Patrick De Koster, revealed plans to speak with City representatives over improving the terms of his contract, which is due to expire in 2021. He also hinted at possibly lifting his client into a pay bracket similar to players such as Paris Saint-Germain stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

"His salary? I cannot say," De Koster told Italy's CRC Radio, as translated by the Guardian. "But if you think what Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being paid, you can picture."

Following lucrative transfers last summer, PSG is reportedly paying the two players almost £1 million in combined weekly wages, with Neymar earning £500,000 and Mbappe on £300,000 a week.

After yet another superb performance during Tuesday's Champions League win over Napoli, De Bruyne will look to continue his fine form during City's weekend clash with Burnley as Pep Guardiola's side attempts to stay atop the Premier League table.
