Solskjaer: 'Let's see what happens' with Pogba contract talks

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to extend his working relationship with Paul Pogba amid reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The French midfielder is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and will be available on a free transfer next summer unless he and the club agree to fresh terms.

"Paul knows what we feel about it, and I've enjoyed my time working with him, and hopefully we can work together," Solskjaer said Saturday after his side's 4-2 preseason loss to Queens Park Rangers. "The talks between the club and Paul's representatives, I'm not in the detail of every single one of them. I've got nothing to say about that. Let's see what happens."

Solskjaer, who signed a three-year extension this weekend, reiterated that contract talks with Pogba are "ongoing" and said the 28-year-old has indicated he's looking forward to next season.

Pogba has regularly featured in the transfer rumor mill since returning to Manchester United from Juventus in 2016. His agent, Mino Raiola, has often fueled such speculation, saying in December 2020 his client is "unhappy" and "done" at United. Pogba admitted two months before Raiola's statement that it's his "dream" to play for Real Madrid.

United are busy brokering deals ahead of the new campaign. The Red Devils completed their protracted pursuit of Jadon Sancho on Friday when the winger joined from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million. The club also brought in Tom Heaton as competition for the goalkeeping spot 11 years after he left for Cardiff City.

And more moves could follow, with United reportedly preparing an offer for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

"You never say a team is complete," Solskjaer said, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson. "It's always dynamic, always moving parts, and you've got to be ready for changes."
