Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are set for a high-priced game of tug of war, and to the victor goes coveted Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi.

The Blues have joined PSG in pursuit of the 22-year-old, according to The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg and Fabrizio Romano.

PSG already tabled a €60-million bid for the Madrid-born Moroccan international, though Inter are resistant to sell Hakimi for anything less than €80 million.

Chelsea have yet to make a formal offer but are reportedly unlikely to meet Inter's valuation of Hakimi.

Hakimi played a vital role in Inter's first Serie A title since 2009-10, pairing seven goals and eight assists with appearances in all but one of the club's 38 league outings.

A product of Real Madrid's famed Castilla youth setup, Hakimi joined Inter in July 2020 on a five-year deal for a reported €40-million fee.

Hakimi's versatility on the right side and proficient two-way play are big draws for managers hoping to upgrade at both the full-back and wing-back positions.

A potential move by Hakimi to Stamford Bridge would cast further doubt on the Chelsea tenure of reported Bayern Munich target Callum Hudson-Odoi and coveted academy darling Tino Livramento, who is reportedly being monitored by Aston Villa.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains keen on adding to the squad despite the recent Champions League finals win over Manchester City.

"We have to check with the owner if this is his plan," he said.

"It's like a similar deal with Tom Brady when they ask him what is his favorite win and he says, 'The next one,'" Tuchel added. "We have a Premier League to play from day one. We will be seen a bit differently as Champions League winners and this is where we have to step up. If we really want to build something, I'm all-in. I'm happy to discuss it. If our beliefs match, we go from there."
