Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expects Sergio Aguero to miss a few more weeks while he recovers from COVID-19 symptoms.

"When one guy suffers (COVID-19) it can take weeks to feel better," Guardiola said Tuesday. "He is still not training on the field. He started moving yesterday. He will need a few weeks to come back.

"The important thing is he is negative and he can come back to us."

The 32-year-old Argentine has started only three matches across all competitions this season as he's dealt with knee, hamstring, and coronavirus issues. He made his last appearance on Jan. 3 as a late substitute in a 3-1 win at Chelsea, and he's yet to log a Premier League goal this term.

Aguero's contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in June.

With both Aguero and Gabriel Jesus suffering from fitness problems this season, other players have stepped up to share the scoring burden. Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, and Raheem Sterling have notched nine goals apiece, and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ferran Torres have appeared in central attacking roles.

Manchester City have won their last 12 matches, including nine in January. The Premier League leaders travel to nearby Burnley on Wednesday.
