Everton are trying to boost their presence in Latin America by signing a strategic partnership with Everton de Vina del Mar.

The Chilean club was formed and adopted the English part of its name after Everton toured the South American country with Tottenham Hotspur in 1909. Merseyside's Everton and Vina del Mar's Everton met again in a friendly at Goodison Park in 2010.

Everton will share knowledge - such as scouting and coaching techniques - with their Chilean ally. The club will also capitalize on their increased marketing potential in the region following the signings of James Rodriguez, Allan, Richarlison, Yerry Mina, and Bernard over the past three seasons.

Everton de Vina del Mar are also under the umbrella of Grupo Pachuca, a consortium which owns five other clubs in Mexico and Argentina, including Liga MX's Pachuca and Club Leon.

"Growing our international footprint in key territories is really important to us and we are very confident this is the start of something special between our two Evertons and also Grupo Pachuca, who are known for their innovation and ambition," said Richard Kenyon, who serves as director of marketing, communications, and community at the English Everton.

Under the watch of decorated manager Carlo Ancelotti, Everton currently sit atop the Premier League following four matches of the 2020-21 Premier League campaign. The Toffees next face local rivals and reigning English champions Liverpool on Oct. 17.

"Undoubtedly, the possibility of generating friendlies, international tours, the exchange of players and the transfer of knowledge in the development of youth players and the training of our professionals will support the growth of our institution," Everton de Vina del Mar president Pedro Cedillo Martinez explained.

"This historic international agreement, with a leading club in the best league in the world, the English Premier League, is not only good for our institution, but also for Chilean football.”
