Six positive results for COVID-19 were detected at three Premier League clubs in the first round of mass testing.

The Premier League evaluated 748 players and club staff over a 48-hour period Sunday and Monday.

It was later confirmed that three of the cases came from Watford.

"Of those three positive tests, one is a player and two are members of staff," Watford said in a statement. "All three have asked that medical confidentiality be respected and, therefore, the club will not be naming those involved."

Burnley also announced that assistant manager Ian Woan was one of the people to test positive for COVID-19.

Players and staff who tested positive have been ordered to self-isolate for the next seven days.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency," it said in a statement Tuesday. "No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the league and results will be made public in this way after each round of testing."

Clubs unanimously agreed to adopt the first phase of Project Restart, which aims to resume play by the middle of June. Teams are now allowed to train in small groups, but no contact is permitted.

To create a clean and safe environment, staff are reportedly required to disinfect corner flags, goalposts, balls, and training equipment.

Players and staff will also undergo testing twice a week to ensure there's no outbreak.
