Manchester City are in talks with Raheem Sterling over a new long-term contract, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

Sterling signed a three-year extension in November 2018 worth a reported £275,000 a week. Stone understands Sterling's next contract will make him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

Since taking the reins at City in 2016, Pep Guardiola has transformed Sterling into an all-purpose forward. The 24-year-old has already scored 13 goals in all competitions this season while playing in various positions up front.

It's unclear whether Guardiola's future will have any impact on contract negotiations. The Spanish tactician, who's bound to City until 2021, recently said he wants to stay and that he's "incredibly satisfied to work with this club and with these players."

Currently in his fifth year at the Etihad, Sterling has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, and an FA Cup. He was also named the 2018-19 Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.
